Mobile Triage &
Healing Hub Proposal
Vision Statement
To restore dignity, hope, and health to Austin's unhoused community by providing essential services, including showers, laundry access, and medical triage, anchored in the high-need 78741 zip code and expanded through mobile outreach to surrounding
neighborhoods.
Apogee Ministries - Healing Hub Proposal
Phase One: The Healing Hub (78741 Base Facility)
Proposed Location: ZIP Code 78741 (Montopolis area)
Facility Features:
- 3–5 private shower stalls
- 4–6 commercial laundry units
- Flexible-use triage space (portable exam screens, handwashing station)
- Volunteer work area & intake desk
- Supply storage room for hygiene kits, clothes, and medical supplies
Proposed Weekly Schedule:
- Mon–Thurs: Open for hygiene services (Showers & Laundry | 9AM–3PM)
- 1st & 3rd Saturdays: Pop-Up Medical Triage (Health checks, wound care, referrals)
- Fridays (biweekly): Volunteer prep for mobile outreach in other zip codes
Phase Two: Mobile Pop-Up Expansion
Using tents, folding exam tables, and volunteer teams, Apogee Ministries will extend triage and hygiene outreach into surrounding Austin ZIP codes with high homelessness rates, starting with:
- 78741 (Base)
- 78702 (East Austin)
- 78753 (North Austin)
- 78744 (Southeast)
Volunteer Partnerships & Continuing Education (CE) Incentives
We will establish partnerships with:
- Nursing & medical schools for volunteer rotations
- Licensed professionals seeking CE hours for pro bono service
- Existing medical providers (CommUnityCare, Integral Care) to ensure coordination
Medication Access
Through partnerships with:
- Central Health’s Medical Access Program (MAP)
- Volunteer Healthcare Clinic
- Pharmaceutical donation programs (e.g., SIRUM)
- Local pharmacies for low-cost or grant-funded prescriptions
Next Steps & Request for Support
Apogee Ministries is preparing to formally request:
- Start-up funding from the City of Austin and Travis County
- Guidance from the Homeless Strategy Office
- Partnership meetings with local healthcare providers
We believe that true healing begins when people feel seen, clean, and cared for. This Triage & Healing Hub will be a catalyst for transformation in one of Austin’s most vulnerable communities.
